There's no place like home
Let me start by saying it is great to be back in the US and, more importantly, to be in one place. I know living overseas 9 months out of the year sounds amazing, but there are plenty of things I missed out on. Holidays with family and friends, for example. I especially missed Christmas mornings. Christmas in Thailand was... well it was Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Or whatever day of the week it was - it wasn't anything special.
But as I was working on this website, and digging through thousands of pictures to put these galleries together, I came across one picture that really made me miss my second home. It's the picture of the baby elephant from Natasha and Matt's wedding. I absolutely love elephants, they are so sweet and have the kindest eyes. The thing is, when a baby elephant came walking up to a wedding in Thailand... it was no big deal! There were times in Thailand I was sitting at an outdoor bar and someone would walk by with an elephant to feed. Hell, in Udon there was a strip of bars that had a "No Elephants" sign (in Thai of course)!
I guess my point is this: Appreciate what you have while you still have it. Yes, ok, I didn't mean to have this post climax into a giant cliche, but there you go. It's the things we take for granted that we miss the most when they are gone. Oh, was that better?
Anyway, here you go... the cutest baby elephant you will ever see. :)
